What is TPI?

TPI stands for Titleist Performance Institute. It is the world’s leading educational organization dedicated to improve golf performance for all golfers, whether you are someone who plays every now and then to tour professionals. 24 out of the last 25 major winners have been educated and taught using the TPI philosophy. TPI believes in the body swing connection, which is the relationship between how the body and the golf swing works and how they come together.

How does it work?

We begin with a very simple and quick screening process, where by performing 16 different body assessments we can assess how efficient your body is in the golf swing. The more efficient you are, the better prepared your body is to be a better golfer. The golf swing is a highly demanding whole body movement with a lot of bio-mechanical components that can affect it.

For example, golf is a rotational sport (your body moves in the rotational (transverse) plane) and if your upper body doesn’t rotate as well as it could, a few things could happen:

1. You will lose power in the swing.
2. Your body will have to adapt to get you to where you want to be, regardless of form. This will result in poor swing sequencing and again most likely a loss of power.
3. You will be putting your body at a higher risk of injury and like number 2 above, our bodies will always attempt to get us to our objective and this can lead to injury, especially over time.

How can I help you?

I am a qualified and certified TPI Level 2 Fitness trainer. I also have trained and qualified with Faster Global golf biomechanics and have over 10 years’ experience in Personal Training and injury rehabilitation in which I have trained many golfers successfully in that time.

We are all different and this is seen very clearly with a golf swing. No 2 swings are the same, think of the smooth ‘textbook’ swing of Rory McIlroy to Jim Furyk’s more unorthodox swing and also Bryson De Chambeau’s power and speed. They couldn’t be more different but what they have in common is that it works for them, they train individually to improve their efficiency for golf.

This is applicable to us all. Would you like to increase distance on your shots, improve your consistency, improve your longevity in the game and help prevent injury?

If so, then I can work with you to your individual goals. Using a team approach, I can liaise with your golf professional and medical professional (if required) to get the very best results.
